Process work for the “Trinity Community Recreation Centre" rebrand project I am working on. It is a community centre run by Toronto Parks and forestry and is the only one in the downtown core.
It is a entire branding system from schedules, sign up forms, booklets, signage, and the environment itself.
My process begins with a brief of what is the project and some facts about the community centre. Then I dig deeper into the w5h questions and ask myself what is the end goal. I also do a series of mind maps to get me thinking of solutions for the rebrand. After all that I start sketching until I feel like I have some form of direction.
After I develop some initial brand materials I printed them out in presentation format. Reason being is because I wanted to field test my ideas. In order to attain an effective solution I need to fully understand the users of this brand. So I went to the community centre and asked some regulars a series of basic questions. Through my survey I feel like I have a better understanding of what needs to be done.
User experience is key in effective design, and I am just one step closer.
